  1. What are the normal working hours of the library?
    On regular days
    From Sunday to Wednesday: 07:30 AM to 06:00 PM
    On Thursday: 07:30 AM to 03:00 PM.

    During Final Examination
    From Sunday to Wednesday: 07:30 AM to 06:00 PM
    On Thursday: 07:30 AM to 03:00 PM
    On Saturday: 03:00 PM to 07:00 PM

    During vacation
    From Sunday to Wednesday: 08:00 AM to 04:00 PM
    On Thursday: 08:00 AM to 03:00 PM

  2. How can COE students become members of the library?
    Students should produce their student identity card to become a member of the library. 
  3. How many books can a student borrow?

    Students may borrow a maximum of four books at a time for a period of three weeks. Level 4, Special Part Time, and MSc students of engineering may borrow a maximum of 4 books for three weeks. It is mandatory to produce identity cards for the issue of books from the library.

  4. What is the lending period of a book?
    The normal lending period of a book is three week only. 
  5. Is there a fine for the late return of books?
    Yes. Students should pay fine for late return. 50 baiza per book per day is the rate. 
  6. Is there any reservation facility available in the library?
    Yes, students can reserve book, which are currently issued to other members. Students will be informed when the reserved books are returned to the library. Books will be kept for three days only.
  7. What are the activities that are prohibited inside the library?
    Noisy behavior, using GSM, damaging library property and eating are strictly prohibited inside the library. (refer to Library Rules)
  8. What is the Discussion Group Area?
    Students can discuss in this area without making much noise and disturbing other students.
  9. How can I distinguish close reserve books from other books?
    ‘Reserve Only’ seal  and orange color sticker can be seen on  close reserve books
  10. How can I find out whether a specific book is available in our library?
    The Library catalogue is available on the MY NU portal and on the NU CoE library website. It can be used to find whether a specific book is available in the library or not.
  11. Where can I find the library rules?
    On MY NU portal and also On the library notice board.
  12. How can I access the ProQuest journals database?
    On MY NU portal – College of engineering – MASADER
  13. How can I access open access?
    On MY NU portal- College of engineering-Library catalog- Open access resources.
  14. How can I access  ProQuest  E book central  (electronic book)?
    On MY NU portal – College of Engineering – MASADER.
  15. Where can I return books?
    Please returned books to the circulation desk.
  16. Does the library provide tours, orientations, instruction or workshops?
    The CoE library introduce new users to the library staff, services and resources. This includes academic Staff and students. 
  17. What is Inter library loan?
    Inter library Loan is a service for college of engineering faculty, staff and registered students.It allows college of engineering Library users to borrow electronic resources from Main library- SQU, Nizwa University library and GUtech university library.
  18. Do I have to pay for inter library loan services?
    No, you do not have to pay. It is a free service.
