About this program

The MSc. program in Construction and Project Management (MSCPM) is designed to prepare graduate students technically and practically with advanced knowledge and skills that match the growing requirements of the construction industry globally. Students will gain a deep and robust understanding of the construction industry environment and modern management concepts to deal with complexities and challenges associated with the construction environment. Graduated students will be prepared to occupy leadership positions in the construction industry, as well as have research capabilities and skills in academia. The program curriculum consists of a set of fundamental knowledge courses and modern topics needed in the dynamic construction environment, including courses on Corporate and Business Management, Operations Analysis and Management, Procurement Methods and Contract Law, and Project Management. Modern topics include courses such as sustainability in the construction industry, building information modeling in construction, risk management, and Economic and financial management for engineers. The graduates will have a deep, concrete understanding of advanced topics in construction through two elective courses that will enable them to face future challenges and update with recent advances.

Awards

  • Students who complete 30 credit hours will be awarded a Postgraduate Diploma in Construction and Project Management awarded by National University
  • Students who complete 45 credit hours will be awarded a Master of Science in Construction and Project Management awarded by National University

Career Prospects

The acquired skills empower students to excel as senior managers in various construction industries and government organizations, including the positions of Site Engineer, Company Manager, Project Manager, Contract Manager, Financial Manager, and Building Services Engineer. Further, Graduates could pursue PhD programs in the relevant area.

Entry Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in any construction and built environment-related subject – (e.g., Quantity Surveying, Building Services, Construction Engineering and Management, Architecture, Civil Engineering, Measurement and Cost Engineering, Architectural Engineering, Environmental Civil Engineering, Civil & Environmental Engineering, Construction Management, Urban Planning, and Architectural Design).
  • Applicants must have a CGPA of not less than “GOOD” or equivalent. A passing grade will be accepted if the candidate has at least two years of experience in their field of specialization.
  • Applicants from other disciplines with a minimum of second class Degree or above may be considered case by case if they have relevant work experience is not less than 3 years.
  • Minimum of IELTS band 6.0 or TOEFL with a minimum score of 550 (213 for computer-based test). Students with IELTS band 5.0 – 5.5 will also be considered subject to successful completion of PQP1/PQP2 course conducted by the university.
  • Experienced students with a diploma or advanced diploma will also be considered as per the MoHERI regulations.
