About the Department

It is with our great pleasure to invite you to the department of Electrical and Communication Engineering (ECE). The department of Electrical and Communication Engineering was established in the year 1996 and has grown over the last twenty-five years into a full-fledged department with about 20 academic staff members and 08 lab instructors with excellent academic records and around 600 students.

Key Features of the Department

Student engagement and activities

The Department is promoting student-centered Learning and Teaching (L&T) culture where the role of the teacher is only a facilitator and students are responsible for their learning. Technology-oriented L&T is being practiced and promoted using virtual learning tools like Blackboard and other mobile app-based learning tools.

Relation with industry

Strong industry linkage and invited speeches by industrial experts have been regular features of the course delivery thereby giving students a strong industry orientation relevant to their field of study. Industrial visits are arranged for students to enable students to see a real-life implementation of the theoretical concepts which they study in the classroom. Joint scientific activities have also been conducted with industry such as seminars and symposia. Some initiatives have been conducted to provide technical training for industry staff but these have not materialized yet. No consultations have been conducted or initiated with the industry yet.

Student Staff Exchange

The Department is also having a good practice of staff and student exchange from different countries such as the United Kingdom, United States of America, India and other universities which have signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoUs) with the National University of Science and Technology. Every semester, staff from different universities visits the College of Engineering for delivering the courses and research activities. Students also visit different universities for internships yearly.
