NU CoE Welcomes New Batch of Future Engineers

The NU College of Engineering welcomed more than 300 new students who progressed from our School of Foundation Studies on 11-13 September 2023 at the Assembly Hall.

The 3-day induction program is intended to brief, orient, and prepare students for the various regulations, services, and programs of the College of Engineering.

The Dean, Dr Ahmed Al Balushi, welcomed our students with high hopes that they could make a difference in society by prioritising their studies while getting involved in various clubs and activities of the college. Dr Ahmed also emphasized the need to read and love books and avail of multiple library resources and information available to them.

Also, the Sultan Haitham Smart City was introduced to students to spread awareness of an innovative and technologically advanced “smart” city concept that addresses urban planning, sustainability, and employment among young Omanis.

This time, invited speakers from OMREN, Oman Research and Education Network, Mr Hilal Al Jassasi, and Mr Hisham Al Araimi came to induct students on Oman’s education and research facilities available through MOHERI.

The department-wide induction program happened on Day 2 with a campus tour by respective engineering departments. Various snacks were served on all three days at the venue.
