Diploma in Quantity Surveying

Flexible mode of study: Full-time/ Part-time (weekend mode)

This two-year diploma program has an equal blend of theoretical, practical, ethical and environmental based courses that meet the needs of the country, industries, and society as a whole.

 

Program Description:

The Diploma in Quantity Surveying aims to equip students with the knowledge and skills essential for a career in quantity surveying.. It provides specialized occupational skill sets, enabling students to perform the key responsibilities of a Quantity Surveyor with a strong sense of responsibility. Graduates will be capable of effectively collaborating with professionals in other construction-related disciplines. The diploma allows students to apply their technical and legal knowledge to the construction industry, preparing them for a successful career in this field.

The diploma is awarded after the completion of 62 credit hours, including compulsory industrial internship and a project course. 

One of the award requirements is that students are expected not only to pass the required courses but also to achieve a minimum GPA of 2.0 or above.

Program Objectives: 

The Diploma in Quantity Surveying aims to:

  • Produce graduates who can assist national and international firms with day-to-day QS duties.
  • Gain knowledge in a focused area to pursue a career in industry.
  • Prepare students to work effectively and conduct themselves ethically in their professional environments.
  • Develop skills in quantity surveying.

Admission Requirements

Admission Criteria:

  • A pass in the General Certificate Diploma or equivalent with a grade not less than “C” in the following subjects:
    • Physics or Chemistry
    • Pure Maths or Applied Maths
    • Equivalent industrial or technical subjects
    • Economics and Arts
  • A pass in the university entrance test with a minimum average of 60%.

Program Articulation:

This program allows students to graduate with a ‘Diploma in Quantity Surveying’ upon successful completion of 62 credit hours. To qualify for the diploma, students must pass all the required courses and achieve a minimum GPA of 2.0. 

Students after successful completion of this proposed Diploma and if they meet the set academic grades can apply for continuing their studies in the same chosen field of study for any other relevant field.

Post-Diploma Journey:

Students who complete 62 credit hours and are awarded the Diploma can pursue and complete the Bachelor’s in one of the following streams:

  • BSc in Quantity Surveying
  • BSc in Construction Management
  • BSc in Project Management

Higher Education Pathways:

After gaining work experience students can return to complete a bachelor ‘s degree at the National university.

  • Practical skills and internships are integral to this program structure. The Diploma program, which is embedded within the BS Quantity Surveying and Cost Management program, includes a credit-bearing industrial internship.
