About College of Engineering

The College of Engineering (CoE) previously known as Caledonian College of Engineering has been operating since 1996 and in its 26th year of operation, the college has merged with other higher educational institutions offering programmes in area of medicine, pharmacy and health sciences to form National University of Science and Technology (NU). The college has been operating as College of Engineering, Caledonian Campus, Al Hail from 1st September 2018 offering high quality technological education for the Sultanate of Oman and the region in general.

The College operates through its campus situated on Al-Marafah Street in Al Hail, close to The Sultan School and the Knowledge Gate Matriculation School.  This campus has a total land area of 45,309 M2 and a total built up area of 29,489 M2 with a wide array of facilities.

 

  • The College of Engineering, formerly known as Caledonian College of Engineering, was established in 1996.
  • The first private engineering college in the Sultanate of Oman.
  • It offers Undergraduate(UG)and Master degree programs in Engineering conforming to international standards and UG programs are accredited by the IET (UK) and CIOB (UK); the Institution is accredited by OAAA (Oman)
  • Academic collaborations with leading international universities including Glasgow Caledonian University (UK), and University of South Carolina (USA) and Vellore Institute of Technology(INDIA), as well as 22 other international collaborations for research and student exchange activities.
  • First engineering college to be fully accredited by OAAA in April 2018.
  • Located at Caledonian Campus, Al Hail, Muscat, this campus has teaching classrooms equipped with the latest teaching aids, advanced laboratories and workshops, computer laboratories, WiFi access, multi-purpose halls, a comprehensive central library with access to online libraries, restaurants and coffee shops, and sports as well as recreational areas.
  • A dedicated centre for research: Caledonian Centre for Research and Innovation (CRI) houses 17 specialized laboratories, 3 dedicated research centers and engineering workshop.
  • 3000+ students from 29 countries, 54% female and 46% male, with around 500+ staying in college accommodation.
  • More than 77.5% employability rate for graduates
  • Largest engineering faculty in Oman hailing from around 25 countries
