BEng. Process Operations and Maintenance

About this program

BEng Process Operations and Maintenance program is a four-year degree program offered to those who desire to gain knowledge in a focused area of chemical and mechanical engineering to pursue a career in industry or continuing graduate studies. The degree is awarded after the successful completion of 132 credit hours of undergraduate work listed in the curriculum below including a compulsory industrial internship and Capstone project The multifaceted discipline covers process plant operations, chemical plant safety, process control and maintenance management as required in modern oil and gas industry. Students can study the core Process Operations and Maintenance program or select program concentration in Maintenance Management to satisfy the requirements for the BEng degree in Process Operations and Maintenance.

Maintenance Management

This concentration is developed to aid students to develop the skillset to maintain the plant resources, controlling time and costs to obtain maximum efficiency of the manufacturing process, the utilities and related facilities. This concentration is intended to enable the graduates to take up global positions in mechanical, Chemical and Process Industries. This concentration will also equip the graduates to grab selective positions in the fields of maintenance and management as a production manager or maintenance engineer.

Career Opportunities

Graduates of the Process Operations and Maintenance program can pursue careers as practicing engineers, entrepreneurs, educators, and researchers. They often find employment in the oil and gas industries and related sectors, taking on roles such as design engineers, process engineers, materials engineers, quality and maintenance engineers, and environmental engineers.  The BEng in Process Operations and Maintenance equips graduates with the knowledge and skills to build successful careers, apply engineering principles across a wide range of industries, and contribute to allied fields of study. Graduates are also encouraged to engage in advanced education, research and development, and innovative initiatives in science, engineering, and technology.
