The Library Day 2025 – FIKIR Exhibition was held at the CoE CRI lobby on Wednesday, 26 February 2025, at 10:00 AM, under the auspices of Sheikha Tamima bint Mohammed Al-Mahrouqiyah, Advisor of Chairman of National Records and Archives Authority. The event aimed to celebrate knowledge, creativity, and innovation through books, art, and intellectual exchange.
The exhibition featured diverse books, authors, font arts, and creative displays, highlighting the importance of reading, research, and artistic expression. The exhibition hosted a variety of libraries and cultural booths.
Fikr Theater stage offered a diverse program featuring educational and cultural plays, presentations of historical muwashahat (a form of vocal music), and inspiring talks by successful Omani influencers. Furthermore, on this special day, an online training session was held for students, faculty, and staff on how to access library OPAC.
The event also welcomed the participation of four schools, allowing students to engage in the exhibits and explore the role of libraries in fostering learning and creativity. The schools included:
– Suhail bin Amr School – 30 students
– Abu Tammam School – 15 students
– Al Jawhara School – 20 students
– Al Waha School – 30 students
As part of the interactive experience, students were guided by the College of Engineering library and (CoE) laboratories, where they explored various engineering labs and learned about different engineering programs. This hands-on exposure provided valuable insights into STEM fields, inspiring students to pursue careers in science and technology.
