14th SPE Oratory Competition

The Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering successfully organized the 14th SPE Oratory competition on 1 November 2023. The competition was jointly organized by the professional student chapters of the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE), the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE) and the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE). The event’s themes were Green hydrogen, Sustainable Development Goals, Artificial Intelligence and the 4th Industrial Revolution.

The event’s primary objective is to allow students to practice and enhance their oratory skills. As communication is a crucial tool for personality development in today’s competitive world, students are challenged to develop their skills further to communicate and promote their ideas on this platform. It has been observed that students have shown broad interest by registering in the competition with more vigour and passion.

Prof C V Sudhir conveyed to the dynamic students the importance of inculcating soft skills, particularly communication skills, for a better career in process and manufacturing industries. He distributed the prizes to the winners and participating students. Prof Ahmed Al Balushi, the Dean of the College of Engineering, conveyed his best wishes for the competition.
