History

The International Maritime College Oman (IMCO) was established on 24 April 2005 as a partnership between the Government of the Sultanate of Oman, majority shareholder of 70%, and the STC Group of Rotterdam. In 2018 ASYAD Group became the shareholder of IMCO representing the Omani Government.

In 2020, ASYAD acquired 100% of the shares becoming the sole shareholder of IMCO. In 2022 Oman Investment Authority decided to divest IMCO and the National University for Science & Technology (NU) acquired it from ASYAD Group. IMCO became the fourth college of NU.

November 10, 2010

IMCO shifted from Muscat to its new campus in Sohar.

January 16, 2018

ASYAD group recognized by the Omani Government as Shareholding representative.

December 15, 2020

Omani Government buys STC Group shares. IMCO becomes 100% government owned entity by ASYAD Group.

April 24, 2020

IMCO celebrates 15th Anniversary.

June 06, 2022

NU acquires IMCO from ASYAD Group
