Department of Process Engineering

About Department

The Process Engineering Department, National University of Science & Technology was established in 2005. The establishment was intended to fulfill the demand for highly competent professional process engineers in Oman growing chemical and allied process industries and to explore various fields of process engineering research. Over the year, Process Engineering has remained the program of choice for many of the admission seekers into the university. Our undergraduate program is offered at Diploma & Bachelor degree levels in Engineering for Process Engineering through Full Time & Part Time study modes.

The Bachelor’s degree is designed to produce students with advanced knowledge, skills and understanding of the concept of process engineering. The program instills appropriate cognitive, analytical, technical, intellectual, writing, supervisory and managerial skills into our students which they can apply in appropriate occupational roles or in post-graduate study. Moreover, students from this program will demonstrate an advanced level of skills that are required to promote good work as well as study practices.

The diploma degree is designed to equip the students with knowledge and skills needed in the Process Engineering field at the level of an operator in the process industries. The diploma program provides students with a substantial range of knowledge, skills and understanding of the general principles of process engineering with specialization in equipment and plant operation in the process industries. It prepares the students to take autonomous roles in manufacturing, technical and supervisory activities in the chemical industries, and to pursue further studies.

Process Engineering students will do practical training (internship) in the process industry to enhance their knowledge and competency skills.

Program Educational Objectives-Diploma

After few years, the Process Engineering graduates of are expected to:

  1. to apply fundamental principles in the Process Engineering field at the level of an operator in the areas of operation, production and safe manufacturing of products in process industries
  2. apply practical skills and competencies developed in the program in order to operate equipment in process and manufacturing industries, safely and competently.
  3. be proficient and effective in verbal and written communication to carry out their duties and responsibilities within the process industry and society in a safe and efficient manner.
  4. demonstrate a sense of social ethical and moral values appropriate to providing efficient services at workplace and within their communities
  5. have a good record of community services to their local as well national and global communities
