A highly respected member of the community, Sheikh Salim has contributed greatly to the infrastructure and development of Oman, especially as Chairman of Galfar Engineering & Contracting Co SAOG, Bank Sohar SAOG and Salim International Investment Holding LLC. His many philanthropic activities have included the establishment of Caledonian College of Engineering, Sheikh Salim has also served as Vice President of the Chamber of Commerce and is a valued board member on numerous committees and organisations. In July 2007, he was conferred with an honorary PhD in Technology from Glasgow Caledonian University in recognition of his lifetime commitment and contributions to industrial and economic developments in Oman. Sheikh Salim has been a passionate promoter of sports, presiding over the Omani Football Union and contributing to the establishment of Arobah Club.
Dr. P. Mohamed Ali is a distinguished personality who has established his footprints in several countries as a leading businessman, educationalist and a socially responsible person. His outstanding contributions to social, cultural and educational organisations throughout the Sultanate of Oman have earned him the prestigious Oman Civil Order. Dr P Mohamed Ali’s initiatives in the Oman’s education sector are legendary. These include the Indian School, the Caledonian College of Engineering, the Oman Medical College; and operator’s institutes giving on the job training to Omani nationals with a combined student population of over 10,000. In recognition of his pioneering work and his support for the development of world standard Higher Education in Oman, the Glasgow Caledonian University in UK awarded him the honorary degree of ‘Doctor of Science’ in 2001.
Dr. Mohamed Ali has contributed to the development of Oman through various organisations; Council for Promotion of Overseas Employment; the Chairman of the Oman Society of Contractors (OSC); Founder-Chairman of the Oman Petroleum Alliance (OPAL); and Vice Chairman of the Omanization Joint Committee. He has initiated a mentorship scheme named “ Haraka baraka” in 2014 where beginners can connect with local businessmen to support young Omani entrepreneurs and published “A practical guide for aspiring entrepreneurs” .
Ms Budoor is the chairperson and founder of new business entities within Oman as well as being a member of the board of directors at Caledonian College of Engineering. Following in the footsteps of her father, Mr Mohamed Rashid al Fannah Al Araimi, Ms Budoor brings new dimension to the college through being a relatively recent graduate herself who has studied both in and out of Oman. As a result she has firsthand knowledge and experience of higher education within the Sultanate and contributes effectively towards the progression and development of the college. She also encourages women to take up opportunities and supports initiatives for female students throughout the college.
Ms Fadwa, as daughter of Sheikh Salim Saeed Hamed Al Fannah Al Araimi, has taken an active interest in the Caledonian College of Engineering for many years. As a graduate in accountancy from a Jordanian university she has also played an active role, since 1996, in Galfar Engineering & Contracting Co. She is also a member of the Board of Directors for Gulf Plastic Industries Co SAOG and Al Fajr Al Alamia Co SAOG.
Mr Mohiuddin Mohamed Ali hails from the business family of Dr P Mohamed Ali who is the founder of Galfar Engineering & Contacting Company, the largest private sector organisation in Oman. Mr Mohiuddin, the youngest son of P Mohamed Ali, was educated at the American British Academy in Muscat and holds a Bachelor degree in Civil Engineering from the prestigious Carnegie Mellon University in USA. Mr Mohiuddin is actively engaged in the family business in India and GCC countries and serves as director of several companies including Mfar Holdings, Mfar Constructions, Mfar Hotels, Galfar-Muscat, Galfar-Qatar, Azaiba Hotels-Muscat and PMA International.
Dr. Ali Al Bimani is the Vice-chancellor of the National University of Science and Technology since the 15th October 2020. He was previously the 5th Vice Chancellor of the Sultan Qaboos University from 12th February 2008 to 2nd July 2020.
Upon completion of his Bachelor studies from UT Austin in 1980 he was appointed as a Petroleum Engineer at Petroleum Development Oman (PDO). Subsequently, he moved to Sultan Qaboos University in 1986, where he pursued his Master’s & PhD at USC and graduated in 1992.
In 1992; he started as academician in the Department of Petroleum & Chemical Engineering, eventually became the Head of the Department.
