The National University of Science & Technology (NU), a private university in the Sultanate of Oman, was established in 2018, after receiving due approval from the Educational Council Decision No 7/3/2017 and Ministry of Higher Education, Research, and Innovation (MoHER&I) Decision No 19/2018. The University was formed by merging Caledonian College of Engineering (CCE) and Oman Medical College (OMC) renowned for its excellence in providing undergraduate and post graduate programs in medicine, pharmacy and engineering education and research, Maritime Science & Advanced Technology.

The establishment of NU marks a significant milestone for the Founders Sheik Salim Al Fannah Al Araimi, Dr. P. Mohamed Ali, and the family of late Mohamed Rashid Al Fannah Al Araimi . The Founders firmly believe that NU is destined to reach new vistas of excellence in education, research and technology and to become an icon of higher education and research not only in the Sultanate of Oman, but beyond.

The Headquarters of National University is located in Bausher, Muscat. The NU consists of 5 colleges which includes College of Engineering (CoE), College of Medicine and Health Sciences (COM&HS), College of Pharmacy (CoP), International Maritime College Oman (IMCO), College of Advanced Technology (CAT) and a School of Foundation Studies (SoFS). NU is proud of attracting international students from more than 33 nations.

  • In 1996, CCE was the first private engineering college in the Sultanate of Oman. It was established with Glasgow Caledonian University (GCU) as academic partnership. CCE is the first engineering college in the Sultanate of Oman to have received institutional accreditation from Oman Authority for Academic Accreditation and Quality Assurance of Education (OAAAQA). The College name was change to College of Engineering (CoE) after the merger and has a campus at Al Hail.
  • In 2001, OMC was the first private medical college In the Sultanate of Oman. It was established in academic partnership with the West Virginia University (WVU), USA. The College name was change to College of Medicine and Health Sciences after the merger and functions at two campus at Sohar  and Rustaq .
  • In 2003, the OMC Pharmacy Department was established, which was transformed in 2018 to the College of Pharmacy is based at Baushar-Muscat (Link to the Location). The college was established in academic partnership with the West Virginia University (WVU), USA.
  • In 2022 the NU got the permission to start new College of Advanced Technology (CAT) and has acquired from ASYAD, the International Maritime College Oman (IMCO), which is based in Sohar.

NU has the School of Foundation studies which is based at the Airport Heights (Link to the Location) where all students who needs to take foundation studies (English, Math and IT) will spend some time to achieve the requires levels before enrollment into his/her college.

College of Engineering

(Formerly Caledonian College of Engineering)

College of Engineering campus providing a high quality education in Engineering and allied specializations for the Sultanate of Oman and the region in general. The college has produced 1,841 diplomats, 3,386 graduates and 90 postgraduates since opening its doors in 1996. 

College of Medicine and Health Sciences

(formerly Oman Medical College)

College of Medicine and Health Sciences, the only one private medical college in Oman was established in 2001 in academic partnership with the West Virginia University in the United States.

College of Pharmacy

(formerly Department of Pharmacy within Oman Medical College)

The promoters of the College of Medicine and Health Sciences have established the College of Pharmacy (formerly Department of Pharmacy within Oman Medical College), the first Pharmacy department in Oman in 2003 in academic partnership with the West Virginia University in the United States. 

School of Foundation Studies

National University offers a General Foundation Program (GFP) common to all engineering, medicine and pharmacy programs.
