Colon and breast cancer are a malignant tumor with high rate and causes the death of more than 30% of the patients. Although there have been efforts to increase the life of the patient using chemotherapy agents, unspecified targets of drugs cause serious side effects and lead to multiple drug resistance (MDR).This study aimed to evaluate the effects of therapy combination of Calotropis gigantea extract with the chemotherapy drug 5-Fluorouracil (5-FU) against colon and breast cancer cell line.
Major Objectives: (i) Extraction and preparation of C. giganta plant parts for clinically important substances. (ii) Evaluation of various clinically important substances extracted from different parts of the plant. (iii) Testing these extracted substances with breast and colon tumor cell lines in vitro against normal wildtype cell lineages. (iv) Combine the most effective extracts with 5-FU and evaluate the effectiveness of this combination in breast and cancer cell lines. (v) Exploit the possibility of further undertaking in vivo studies for successful active substances against specific types of cancers.
