The National University of Science and Technology organized Career Guidance Day 2019 for the final year BPharm students across Oman on Monday 21st October 2019 under the auspices of Commuity Engagement Committee of College of Pharmacy, NU. Private organizations working in medical manufacturing and distribution in the Sultanate actively participated in this workshop.
This annual event aims to prepare Omani and Non-omani graduating pharmacists for job market and employment prospects. Such events create a platform and an opportunity for pharmacy students to establish direct communication with the participating institutions and potential employers.
The workshop was inaugurated by of Dr Jayasekhar, Head of the Pharmacy Department and Dr Faiza Al-Hosni, Director of Human Resources, NU in the presence of a number of guests, students and well-wishers. At this event, a number of interactive discussion papers on various fields of work in the pharmaceutical sector were presented. All these papers have emphasized the importance of qualifying pharmacy graduates in accordance with the labour market requirements and expectataions. Notable participants in this event include the representatives from private and public sector, such as Nestlé Oman, Muscat Pharmacy and Abbott Pharma Oman which had created a positive impact on students.
Community Engagement Committee regulary organizes such events in order to bridge the gap between the industries and the pharmacy institution for the benefit of students. Dr Majed AbuKhader an Associate Professor at the college of pharmacy is the chair of community engagement committee.
