This committee is expected to formulate and develop short / long term research and development strategies for SoFS in achieving research goals of the university. The main responsibilities of this committee are;
Core Research Area : Pedagogy | |
Staff Name | Research Area |
Ms. Sharmine Jasawala, Ms. Susana A. Cochingco |
Evaluating/analyzing the effects of online classes on student’s interest in studies. |
Ms.Sulaiha Beevi, Ms.Jitha Challipat |
A study of student’s perception of their actual learning ability and their augmented competencies achieved in GFP. |
Ms. Chandana Kattekola Ms.Sulaiha Beevi |
Monitor student cohorts in terms of progression in GFP relative to entry standards and progression of GFP alumni on higher education program. |
Ms. Nirmala Babu, Ms. Asma Al Harrasi, Dr.Sharifa Nasser Al Harrasi Mr. Sreehari V M |
Cross examine the trends observed in the final exam results since the onset of online learning at SoFS and investigate the reasons for a difference in the correlation coefficient observed in the three courses offered for the same cohort in Spring 2021 and also have a comparative investigation that shows relationships between two or more semesters. The study also aims to provide insights to pursue action in future semesters leading to a resolution of this observation. |
Ms. Soji Binu Mathew, Mr. Sreehari V M |
To investigate the effectiveness/ weakness of courses at SoFS by comparing the standards of student’s entry level and their exit level. |
Mr. Navaneeth Koladi, Ms. Rosena S |
To investigate how effective is the use of only MCQs to test the reading skill of a GFP student. With the present pandemic situation, only MCQs are used whereas earlier, different question types were used and a high score in reading is observed. This needs further investigation. |
Ms. Rosena S Ms.Bindu Annie George |
To investigate if feedback strategies adopted by faculty at GFP can be made more effective through perception training. The perception of feedback among staff and students differs in many areas and due to these divergent views, student satisfaction in the area of feedback has had an observable decline in the last two semesters [GFP-SSS, 2020-21 Fall and Spring]. This trend needs addressing and by further exploring alternatives for already existing feedback strategies, this study hopes to reverse the downward trend. |
Mr. Nelson. PV | To assess performance difference b/w Online vs. Face-to-Face teaching, whether the students have achieved the LO’s and to find if there’s any gap b/w Face-to-Face Vs. Online teaching. |
Ms. Aliza Batool Ms. Anitra Hernandez Ms. Yashmin Mansuria |
To investigate if Connectivism can be juxtaposed with current learning theories as a more pragmatic/contemporary approach to language learning. Further, to explore the dimensions of Connectivism and assess its affordances as a model/framework for harnessing and supporting language learning in the digital age with a view to suggest its pedagogical applications. |
