Induction Program for New Students SoFS ( Fall 2024 )

On 29th September 2024, the School of Foundation Studies (SoFS) conducted an Induction Program for more than 600 new students in two batches. The first session began at 8:30 AM and the second at 1:30 PM in the Assembly Hall.

The program opened with a presentation on health and safety protocols by the HSE Manager, followed by a welcome address from Dr. Sleem Al Habsi, Director of SoFS. Additional addresses were given by Ms. Buthaina Jamei, Director of DoAR; Mr. Ahammed Basheer, Head of the English Department; and Dr. S. Sulaiha Beevi, Assistant Head of the Maths & IT Department. The session featured a screening of the NU introductory video, and a Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE) representative offered valuable guidance to the students.

Alumni shared their experiences of campus life, and SoFS faculty provided an overview of courses, extracurricular activities, and student clubs. Students participated in a guided campus tour and attended sessions on university life, including student affairs, hostel life, library services, university regulations, and academic advising. These sessions, led by SoFS staff, included interactive activities to engage the students.

The Induction Program offered new students an excellent opportunity to connect with peers and faculty, explore campus resources, and gain support as they began their academic journey.
