The International Federation of Medical Students’ Associations (IFMSA) is one of the world’s oldest and largest independent organization representing associations of medical students around the world. IFMSA is acknowledged as a non-governmental and non-for-profit organization within the United Nations system and the World Health Organization. IFMSA has 137 organization members from 127 countries. Yearly, more than 14, 000 medical students participate in international medical student exchange programs, both professional and educational.
The Medical Students’ Community-Oman (MedSCO) is an organization representing medical students in Sultanate of Oman. MedSCO is a member of the International Federation of Medical Students’ Associations (IFMSA). Currently, MedSCO operates through IFMSA Standing Committees made from representatives of College of Medicine at Sultan Qaboos University (SQU) and College of Medicine and Health Sciences (COM&HS) at the National University of Science and Technology. Through these committees, students at both Universities collaborate to organize workshops, seminars and events related to medical education, public health, research exchange, professional development and human rights and peace.
