The department runs the Biochemistry & Genetics (MPRC0205) a 32-week course which provides the MD2 students with knowledge of the biochemical processes of the human body in health and disease. To accomplish the college mission statement and program learning outcomes, the department adopts different student-centered teaching methods, based on inquiry-based learning educating its graduates to be competent in the skills of critical thinking and lifelong learning.
The faculty of the department are involved in various academic and administrative activities of the college. The department encourages students to develop high-order inquiry skills by exploring research topics of their interest and gaining experience in conducting research. The faculty also encourages students to participate in student journal clubs.

The college is well equipped with multi-media lecture halls and small rooms for active teaching and discussion. To support student learning a good college library, e-library, and central computerized examination hall are available.
The biochemistry laboratory is well equipped to train the students under supervision in carrying out routine clinical laboratory investigations, analysis, and interpretation of laboratory data.
The laboratory has well-spread work benches with heat-resistant tabletops. Laboratory safety mechanism in place. The lab can accommodate 75 students at a time. Different types, of glass wares, instrumentation, and reagents are available to conduct the sessions. Lab instructors and lab technologists are available to support the student’s practical sessions.
