As a part of community engagement and social responsibility, the College of Medicine and Health Sciences, represented by the Department of Microbiology & Immunology and MD4 students, organized an ” Infection Prevention Awareness Campaign” in Saham Private School on 8th May 2023 for the school children.
As we know, schools are common sites for the transmission of infections. Teachers, staff, and students should be aware of the various causes of infections, their modes of transmission, and ways to reduce this risk of infection. This has become more important due to the advent of diseases like COVID-19, Flu, and other respiratory and gastrointestinal infections.
The objectives of the event were:
- to create awareness and understanding of the causes of common infections and their modes of transmission.
- to help integrate hand hygiene practices and special precautions into daily routines to reduce the spread of infection among school children.
- to understand the role of infection control steps like masks, PPE, waste disposal etc. in preventing common infectious diseases in the schools.
- to show the role of vaccines in preventing infectious diseases.
