On 14 November 2024, the College of Medicine and Health Sciences, represented by its MD4 students, the Department of Epidemiology and Public Health, and the Community Engagement Office, successfully organized a Diabetes Awareness Campaign at Oasis Mall – Suhar.
The event aimed to raise awareness about diabetes prevention, management, and the importance of healthy lifestyle choices, fostering a better understanding of the condition among the local community. The campaign featured a variety of engaging and educational activities, including interactive awareness booths where attendees had the opportunity to learn about diabetes through informative displays, pamphlets, and direct interaction with medical students and faculty members. The students engaged visitors in meaningful discussions, addressing misconceptions about diabetes and emphasizing the importance of regular health check-ups and proper nutrition. Educational materials, such as brochures and other resources, were distributed to ensure participants could take valuable information home with them.
A feedback system was in place to gather insights from attendees, ensuring that the campaign’s impact could be evaluated and future initiatives improved. The event was well-received by the community, with high participation and positive feedback from attendees. It underscored the importance of continued efforts to raise awareness about diabetes and to promote health education within the region. The College of Medicine and Health Sciences remains committed to engaging with the community to address public health challenges and to foster a healthier, more informed society.
