College of Medicine and Health Sciences, National University aims to organize and combine academic expertise with community involvement to address socially relevant matters with an intention to promote the idea of partnership.  Likewise the College believes in providing students a fair opportunity to be familiar with the health, cultural and social aspects of the Omani community. It also entails our students to engage with the community allies in order to establish meaningful partnerships to work together on issues that enhance health outcomes.

Community Engagement Office at the college is responsible for:

  • Aligning community engagement activities to the NU mission, vision, strategic and operational plans
  • Developing annual community engagement plan
  • Supporting, where appropriate, faculty and students’ voluntary outreach activities
  • Organizing health and educational programs to targeted segments of the community in the college’s campus.
  • Organizing health awareness campaigns to the community at large
  • Organizing blood donation campaigns to support the neighboring hospitals.
  • Sponsoring external activities such as conferences on health issues in collaboration with other agencies.
  • Encouraging faculty, staff, and students to contribute to community service.
  • Establishing links with community engagement officers/units of other governmental and non-governmental organizations.
  • Supporting research and curriculum-related projects/activities in the community.
  • Facilitating interprofessional education
