Under the patronage and participation of the Honorable Dr. Ali bin Saud Al Bimani, Vice-Chancellor of the National University of Science and Technology, the first edition of the College of Medicine and Health Sciences march was launched under the slogan “Walking for Life” on Monday, February 5, 2024 , in front of the College of Medicine building in Sohar. In addition to the college’s students and employees, educational sectors including the College of Health Sciences, the Maritime College, Sohar University, and private schools participated in this walk. There was also active participation from employees of industrial companies in addition to a group from the community. The number of participants in the walk reached 7,500 participants .
This walk aims to promote the benefits of health and physical fitness among community members and adopt a healthy lifestyle, in addition to enhancing the values of community partnership between sectors.
For its part, the organizing committee of the march held many diverse activities, which included organizing fitness exercises, health awareness stations, and awareness and educational brochures. The event also witnessed a series of raffles sponsored by a group of contributing companies.
At the end of the event, the event’s sponsor, the Honorable Dr. Ali bin Saud Al Bimani, President of the National University, Dr. Salem bin Khamis Al Araimi, Vice President, and Professor Dr. Muhammad bin Ali Al Shafi’i, Dean of the College of Medicine, presented souvenirs to the sponsors and gifts to the participants in the march.
It is worth noting that the golden sponsor of this event is Majis Industrial Services Company and Balabel Company, with the contribution of other sponsoring categories that included some of the companies and institutions that had a prominent role in the success of this event. It is worth noting the prominent and effective role played by the General Directorate of Culture, Sports and Youth in the North Al Batinah Governorate and the Royal Oman Police in highlighting this occasion.
