The College of Medicine and Health Sciences (COMHS) welcomed its first cohort of Medical Laboratory Science (MLS) students in an orientation programme organized by MLS Department on 17th September 2023. The event was held in the Sohar Campus of CoMHS, National University of Science & Technology.
The sessions began by welcoming the students and their introduction to Dean and faculty involved in the conduct of the courses. The Dean, COMHS, Prof. Mohammed Al-Shafaee who welcomed the students to the course and college conveyed the virtues of being optimistic and positive during their career and life. This was followed by a session by the Assistant Dean, Preclinical, Dr Nasser Al Nazwani, and was related to the rules, regulations, and code of ethics.
The session that followed familiarized the students with their study plan, credits system and academic progression which was conducted by Dr Mujtaba Allawati, Assistant Professor and MLS department in-charge. A talk on academic advising by Dr Miriam Simon, Assistant Professor (Psychiatry and Behavioural Science) was delivered thereafter.
During the second part of the orientation, students were introduced to the facilities and services available at COMHS. Each Department Manager / Unit Head gave a brief account on the resources and services provided. Following this, the students visited the library to learn how to use the services provided by the library.
