Awareness Session on P/P/G – ISA STD 2 Student Learning

Quality Assurance Office (QAO) in collaboration with the Medical Education Unit (MEU) of the College of Medicine and Health Sciences (COMHS) conducted an awareness session on ISA – Standard 2 – Student Learning P/P/G as per the details below:

The session started with a welcome and introductory message by Prof Dr Mohammed Shafaee, Dean, COMHS. He emphasised the importance of being aware of policies and procedures specifically in the context of upcoming TEPDAD and OAAA accreditation. He mentioned that there will be similar awareness sessions next month, to be hosted by the DQAE Team from NU HQ at the COMHS campus for students and staff on various aspects of procedures and guidelines.

 

Prof Dr R V Murali, Head of the Quality Assurance Office briefed the gathering of the key information about ISA Application preparation, submission and ISA panel visit. He displayed the list of P/P/G – 11 documents – to be covered in the session. Dr Murali outlined the key points and guidelines on Academic Security, Invigilation, Academic Integrity, Training, Career Guidance & Alumni relations, Recognition of Prior Learning and Credit Transfer, Academic Appeals, UG Academic Regulations and UG Project Handbook.

 

Prof Ciraj Ali Mohammed outlined the key points, guidelines and procedures related to Faculty Peer Review, Feedback and Reflection and reiterated the importance of sharing good practices in the Learning and Teaching Process. He also covered other topics including New Program Development procedures and LTA Strategy document. He touched upon the key elements of LTAS including Curriculum, Staff Development and Use of Technology which are pivotal to the core learning and teaching strategy.

 

The session ended with a Quiz that shared 8 scenarios/questions formulated based on the contents of the session and faculty members who came up with accurate responses were awarded tokens of appreciation. The session ended with a request from the QAO for feedback and comments about the session.

 

The facilitators extended the fullest appreciation and gratitude to the Dean, Prof Shafaee for his constant encouragement and support, Mr Said Al Kindy (Dean’s Office), Ms Najwa, Ms Sumaiya (QAO Staff) and Mr Sajid (IT Support) for their timely assistance and support.
