On Wednesday, 1st October, 10 students and lab staff from College of Pharmacy, NU attended a session on Pharmacy Calculations. This was conducted by the Pharmacy Counsellors in Knowledge Oasis Oman as a special initiative to help Pharmacy students connect classroom knowledge with real-world pharmacy practice. The workshop provided valuable insights and hands-on learning opportunities, and the participants showed great enthusiasm and engagement throughout the session.

The course included a variety of interactive and engaging teaching methods designed to strengthen students’ understanding and application of pharmaceutical calculations. The session started with an oral presentation about the content of prescription, difference between different dose terminologies like loading dose, initial dose, maintenance dose, therapeutic dose, maximum dose and basic pharmaceutical calculations. This was followed by several problem-based learning sessions focused on specific dosage forms including oral and topical formulations and calculation of correct doses for children etc.
