The College of Pharmacy offers a four year program leading to the Bachelor of Pharmacy degree. The college is in academic partnership with West Virginia University USA and has been approved by the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation. Our vision is to be recognized nationally and internationally for quality education in pharmacy and research in pharmaceutical and health-related topics. The curriculum is integrated throughout.
The Pharmacy Curriculum has significant focus on active student learning strategies enabling the students to be good learners while they pursue their academic program. The modules on biological and chemicals sciences, pharmacological and pharmaceuticals sciences, and pharmacy practice constitute the major stream of its integrated curriculum. The program has a strong professional training and experience components in hospital pharmacies, community pharmacies, and the industry. Components on professional skills, ethics and values along with adequate provision for communication skills are embedded in the curriculum and assessment methods.
The M.Sc. Program in Clinical Pharmacy is designed in academic partnership with West Virginia University (USA) to prepare professionally competent graduate students with deep subject knowledge and skills to match with the growing need of patient-centered pharmaceutical care services in Oman and abroad.
The program will enable the students to possess knowledge of the use of drugs, work as competent members of multidisciplinary healthcare teams for patient care, and correlate knowledge of drug therapy and disease conditions.
Obtaining the MSc degree in Clinical Pharmacy will provide students the competency to practice the profession effectively in a clinical pharmacy setting as a clinical practitioner involving medication management and pharmaceutical care.
The M.Sc. program in Health-System Pharmacy Administration is designed in academic partnership with the School of Pharmacy, University of North Carolina, USA to satisfy the local and regional requirements of pharmacists who want to pursue their careers in management and leadership positions in hospital and health-system pharmacy practices.
This program mainly aims at preparing graduates for leadership positions in healthcare and health systems pharmacy enterprise operations. Students will be prepared to be pharmacists’ leaders and to be equipped with a career of life-long learning and leadership.
This program will help the graduates to develop collaborative relationships across all practice settings, utilize innovations in technology, and to focus on the betterment of health care delivery and a safe medication use system. Students will also gain a deep and strong understanding of dealing with complexities and challenges associated with the pharmaceutical care setup in the healthcare delivery system. Graduated students will be prepared to occupy professional and leadership positions in the healthcare system and pharmaceutical enterprises.
