National University of Science and Technology Celebrates the Graduation of Doctors, Pharmacists and Health Science Graduates

The ‘Community Engagement Committee’ at the College of Pharmacy, National University of Science and Technology organized its Sixth Career Guidance Day on Tuesday, 26th October, 2021 for final year B.Pharm students. Private sector institutions working in medical manufacturing and distribution in the Sultanate actively participated in this workshop. 

This annual event aims to prepare College of Pharmacy graduating students for job market and employment prospects. Such an event creates a platform and an opportunity for Pharmacy students to establish direct communication with the participating institutions and potential employers.

The event was inaugurated by of Prof. Alka Ahuja, Head of the Pharmacy Program in the presence of a number of guests, students and well-wishers. She gave an overview of the opportunities available for the graduates and  emphasized on the values, commitment and skills needed to be successful in life.A number of interactive sessions in various fields of Pharmaceutical profession were conducted. They emphasized the importance and need of qualifying pharmacy graduates in accordance with the labour market requirements and expectations. The speakers of this event included representatives from private sector including Sanofi Pharma, Muscat Pharmacy and Abbott Pharma Oman and they created a positive impact on participating students. A workshop session was also conducted for the students to provide guidance on how to prepare the C.V. and how to successfully face an interview. A session on how to prepare for a prometric exam helped the students to understand how to prepare for a licensing exam.

Community Engagement Committee chaired by  Dr Majed AbuKhader regulary organizes such events in order to bridge the gap between the industries and academia for the benefit of the students.
