College of Pharmacy Participates in Oman Cancer Association’s 20th Annual Walkathon

The College of Pharmacy (COP) demonstrated its commitment to community engagement and health awareness by actively participating in the Oman Cancer Association’s (OCA) 20th Annual Walkathon. The event aimed to raise awareness about breast cancer throughout Oman, with this year’s theme, “Every Step Counts, No One Fights Alone,” highlighting the importance of solidarity and collective action in the fight against cancer.

The Walkathon, a full-day event from 3:00 pm to 8:30 pm, included a variety of entertaining and family-friendly activities, along with a dedicated food court, making it a memorable outing for attendees. The Walkathon officially commenced at 4:30 pm, attracting community members, families, and healthcare advocates from across the region.

Representing COP, five faculty members joined the event: Dr. Dhanalekshmi, Dr. Yaman Kassab, Dr. Abdul Salam Nazmi, Dr. Javed Qureshi, and Dr. Mohammed Al Ghazali. Their presence underscored COP’s dedication to promoting public health initiatives and fostering a collaborative spirit in addressing critical health issues like cancer awareness and prevention. By participating in this event, COP strengthens its engagement with the community, supporting OCA’s mission to increase awareness and advocate for health education across Oman.

The College of Pharmacy looks forward to continued involvement in similar initiatives, aligning its goals with broader health campaigns and reinforcing its role in community health outreach.
