The College of Pharmacy (CoP) organized a B. Pharm curriculum retreat on Saturday, April 19, 2025, at the Al Murooj Grand Hotel in Bawshar, Muscat, from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm. The event brought together a diverse group of stakeholders, including Ph. Raid Al Sabri (Director General, DGMS, MoH), Ph. Shireen Al Zadjali (University Medical City-SQUH), Ph. Huda Al Harthi (Khoula Hospital, MoH), Mr. Sajid Shaikh (VP Commercial, NPI), Mr. Fahad Othmani (Abbott Pharmaceuticals, Oman), CoP faculty members, student representatives from years 3 and 4, and distinguished CoP graduates.
Throughout the retreat’s three sessions, attendees engaged in valuable discussions led by Dean, CoP Prof. Khalid Al Balushi, the Chair of the Program Review Committee, four Department Heads, the QA Office head, and the Chair of the Examination and Assessment committee. Presentations covered essential topics such as curriculum review process, the Oman Qualifications Framework (OQF) listing criteria, current and proposed curriculum, assessment strategies, and the rationale for implementing curricular changes in the revamped B. Pharm curriculum.
During the concluding remarks, Prof. Khalid Al Balushi expressed gratitude to all participants for their insightful suggestions and active engagement. As a gesture of appreciation, he honored all invited guests, alumni and students for their continued support and contributions. Their input will play a crucial role in further refining the proposed B. Pharm curriculum, ensuring it remains updated to enhance educational quality and align with global standards in pharmacy education.
