Report on Interprofessional Education Conclave 2025

The Interprofessional Education Conclave 2025 was conducted on February 13, 2025, at the COMHS, under the theme “Interprofessional Approaches to Patient Safety and Quality of Care.” The event organized for the COMHS Interprofessional education fest – CIPEF 2025 emphasized collaborative leadership and the importance of teamwork in healthcare settings.

The fest was inaugurated by Prof. Mohammed Al Shafaee, Dean of COMHS, followed by an introduction to Interprofessional Education (IPE) and Collaborative Practice by Prof. Ciraj Ali Mohammed, Head of Medical Education, COMHS. A key highlight was the plenary session on Patient Safety and Interprofessional Leadership, delivered by Prof. John Gilbert, Emeritus Professor at the University of British Columbia, Canada, and Dr. Susan Waller from COMHS, UAE University. Their sessions provided valuable insights into the significance of interdisciplinary collaboration in ensuring patient-centered care.

40 Students from the College of Pharmacy attended the fest alongside medical, pharmacy, and nursing students, actively participating in interactive discussions, case-based learning sessions, and interdisciplinary forums. Facilitated by members of the IPE Coordination Committee, these sessions encouraged students to learn “with, from, and about” each other, strengthening their understanding of teamwork in patient care.

The event also included panel discussions, group presentations, and sessions on translating interprofessional learning into clinical practice, led by Prof. John Muthusamy, Assistant Dean (Clinical), and Dr. Saleena Ummer V, IPE Coordinator at COMHS. Four faculty members from the College of Pharmacy attended the fest, supporting student engagement and fostering professional networking.

The Interprofessional Fest 2025 successfully promoted teamwork and improved patient care, reinforcing the commitment of healthcare institutions to fostering collaboration and enhancing healthcare quality.
