Under the auspices of H.E. Prof. Rahma Bint Ibrahim Al Mahrooqi, Minister of Higher Education, Research, and Innovation, and in the presence of Dr. Mohammed Al-Rubaie, Director General of Pharmaceutical Affairs and Drug Control, the College of Pharmacy at the National University of Science and Technology signed a memorandum of understanding with a global healthcare leader: Abbott.
The signing ceremony was attended by senior officials from both Parties; including Dr. Mazen Bachir, Regional director, Gulf and Emerging Markets from Abbott and Dr. Ali Al-Bemani, Vice Chancellor of the National University.
This MoU in cooperation with Ministry of Health aims at enhancing graduate skills levels to facilitate the effective transition between University and Pharmaceutical Field; boosting the opportunities for students to understand the necessary competencies and experiences required for the pharmaceutical fields; helping and guiding the students to understand the different career paths available in the pharmaceutical sector; towards Omani pharmacy graduates and National University’s College of Pharmacy’s commitment towards enhancing its Bachelor of Pharmacy program graduates’ skills and ensuring their smooth and effective transition between university and business environments.
The objective of this MoU is to develop and set out an internship program that last for 6 months conducted by Abbott for the National University of Science and Technology College of Pharmacy fresh graduates. The Program will raise awareness of the graduates about the healthcare system and pharma market. The Program will expose the graduates to field-based experience via joint field visits or single visits to have a real exposure to market dynamics and customer management. The graduates will be involved in Day-to-Day activities and obtain an experience with Abbott products while working with professional colleagues.
The ultimate aim of this mutual efforts is to equip the pharmacy graduates with the soft skills and necessary competencies that would support their future career readiness and their ability to join the job market successfully.
