The National University of Science and Technology celebrated its university day and launching its national lecture series, at its main headquarters in Bausher, under the auspices of His Excellency Engineer Saeed bin Hamood Al-Ma’awali, Minister of Transport, Communications and Information Technology. Dr. P. Mohammad Ali, Chairman of the University Board of Directors, delivered a welcoming speech, in which he praised the efforts of all employees of the university, stressing the keenness of the Board of Directors to provide more support in order to enhance the educational process in the various colleges of the University.
Then, Dr. Ali bin Saud Al-Bimani, Vice-Chancellor of the University, gave an explanatory presentation in which he referred to the most important achievements of the university’s colleges that were achieved during the academic year 2021-2022, and the high ranking that the university has reached among higher education institutions in the Sultanate of Oman and its effective role in serving education in line with the pillars of Oman Vision 2040.
After that, Dr. Malini Shankar, Vice-Chancellor of the Maritime University of India, the main speaker of the activities of the National University Day, gave a presentation on the most important axes of the fourth industrial revolution such as artificial intelligence and the Internet of things, and she also cited some technologies related to this field and used in the Indian university.
Mr. Ali Al-Mahrouqi, Head of the Electrical Engineering Department at the College of Engineering at the National University, presented a working paper in which he talked about the most important studies related to the technologies of the fourth industrial revolution implemented in the College of Engineering, in addition to the most important programs related to artificial intelligence that are proposed to be presented to students of the College of Advanced Technology, as the college will start in receiving students during the next year.
At the end of the ceremony, the National University awards were presented to the best researchers, the best academic employee, the best administrative employee, the best academic support staff and the best student.
