Medication Therapy Management and Patient Safety

The industry and community engagement committee chaired by Prof. Majed AbuKhader has successfully organized a short course titled: Medication Therapy Management and Patient Safety which was conducted on two days 26th and 27th April 2025. The course was OMSB-CPD accredited for 5.5 points. There were three speakers presented and shared their expertise in medication management, counselling and adherence and patient safety. The speakers were from industry and academia and covered a wide range of topics to suit the audience from mixed backgrounds. In day one, Dr Kannan Omer presented topics related to medication errors and drug-related problems, Dr Yaman Kassab presented topics related to patient counselling and medication adherence and monitoring. In day two, Ms. Umaima AlRaisi (Cardiology nurse – Royal Hospital) presented topics related to quality and patient safety, Risk analysis assessment and performance improvement in the medical setting. The feedback collected from the participants was positive and they appreciated the efforts in offering such short courses to the pharmacists in the pharmaceutical sector, which can add positively into their career development.
