EPEC (Environmental Protection and Energy Conservation) group at College of Engineering, NU.

EPEC group welcomes everyone in this academic year 2018-2019 and the following points are drawn to the attention of all this campus.

Course / Module Handbooks are available in the electronic form and no hard copies are distributed to students. This initiative is to move towards e-materials that will reduce the carbon footprint in our campus.

Online submission of Coursework Reports and Assignments, and Lab Reports is followed to reduce the volume of printing.

Air-condition (AC) Units in all the class rooms and staff cabins are set to operate at optimum temperature between 22° C and 24° C on account of health, safety and the environment.

Please completely switch off your PCs when you are leaving for the day (it was observed that more than 60% of the PCs are ON after 8 pm).

Please switch off lights and ACs if you are the last one to leave the room. A plan is in place to install timers and motion sensors for controlling the AC’s and lights, in near future.

Prepare Power Points teaching materials with the following specifications to conserve paper and ink while printing by students:

  • Remove colored background from your slides.
  • Use the ‘GARAMOND’ font for your text. This font is supposed to use less ink for printing. (Many thanks to Prof AV for finding the optimistic font)
  • Place two slide materials on to one page.
  • Convert your slide into a PDF document and upload them to CCE Learn.
  • Advise students to print on both sides of the paper. This would reduce the consumption of paper by 75%, and thus reduce the carbon footprint in our campus.

It is our prime responsibility to save energy for the University, environment and the nation for a brighter tomorrow.
Please spend few minutes in your classroom on the importance of energy savings before you start your regular lecture on the first day of your class or in any appropriate platform.
