College of Engineering student bagged First Prize at "11th Engineering Student Gathering of the Academic Year of 2020/2021 (Virtual version)" @ SQU

The Students’ Engineering Society in the College of Engineering, Sultan Qaboos University has organized the 11th Engineering Student Gathering virtually from 4 -8 April 2021. The main aim of the gathering was to provide engineering students in Oman the opportunity to meet and share their knowledge and experience and to network with the invited participating international students from and outside Oman. Therefore, participants are invited to participate and be a part in the success of this gathering.

In line with the revolution in the technological field in our current era and the changes and developments that follow in various aspects of life, the gathering this year is focusing on how to link emerging engineering projects and the virtual world. Your participation will play a vital role in the success of the gathering and would encourage cooperation among students from different institutions.

Ms. Zubaida Al Abdali (Student ID: 150051) has submitted her final year project on topic, “Production of Calcium Carbonate Plant with 100 TPD capacity” under the supervision of Dr. Santosh Walke.


Total 34 projects participated in this competition from national as well as international teams, which were divided in 5 sections. Mechanical & Robotics Section received 9 projects, Power & Electronics Technology received 8 projects, Chemical Industry Section received 6 projects, Creative Social Service received 8 projects and Civil & Architectural Design Section received 3 projects.

Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering take this opportunity to congratulate the winner and the supervisor.

At the end of competition, the score points were counted and winners were announced by the SQU organizing team. First Prize won by Ms. Zubaida Al Abdali (Student ID: 150051) of National University of Science and Technology in Chemical Industry Section
