The Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering has successfully organized the 11th<\/sup> SPE Oratory competition, <\/strong>a college wide event open to all students of College of Engineering <\/strong>on 26th <\/sup>April 2021.  <\/strong>The competition was jointly organized by the professional student chapters of Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE), American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE) and Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE). The themes of the event were Biodiversity, Sustainable Development Goals, COVID 2019 – prevention and solution, Climate Change, Energy Conservation and waste management.<\/p>\n

The primary objective of the event is to provide an opportunity for students in practicing and enhancing their oratory skills.  As communication is a crucial tool for personality development in today’s competitive world, students are challenged to further develop their skills to communicate and promote their ideas in this platform. It has been observed that students have shown wide interest by registering in the competition with more vigor and passion. <\/p>\n

Professor C V Sudhir, conveyed his message to the students on the need of inculcating the soft skills particularly communication skill to obtain a better career in industries. Dr Moammer Al Tubi, Deputy Head of the department congratulated the participants and distributed the prizes.  Professor Ahmed Al Balushi, Dean, conveyed his best wishes for the competition and congrulated the winners . <\/p>\n
