MSc in Applied Instrumentation and Control is now offered at the College of Engineering, National University, in academic affiliation with Glasgow Caledonian University (GCU), UK. This masters degree awarded by GCU provides students with specialized education in the area of Instrumentation and Control embedded with creative, technical and practical skills to meet the current and future demand of the industry. Further, the curriculum has been designed in consultation with industry professionals, and it covers recent development in measurement and control, controller design, data acquisition and analysis, measurement systems and networking, condition monitoring and fault diagnosis. The program also nurtures independent thinking and creativity that prepares the graduates to pursue research and business development activities. The graduates of this programme will find job opportunities in a wide range of industries including oil and gas, chemical and petrochemical, electronics and telecommunication, pharmaceutical, manufacturing and biomedical industries.
Awards
- Students who a complete a minimum of 120 credits will be awarded Postgraduate Diploma in Applied Instrumentation and Control awarded by Glasgow Caledonian University, UK, at National University, College of Engineering campus, Sultanate of Oman.
- Students who complete 180 credits will be awarded Master of Science in Applied Instrumentation and Control awarded by Glasgow Caledonian University, UK, at National University, College of Engineering campus, Sultanate of Oman.
Entry requirements
- A Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in following Engineering discipline directly related to the programme are eligible for admission: Electronics and Instrumentation, Electrical Engineering, Process Engineering, Mechatronics engineering.
- Applicants must have CGPA of not less than “GOOD” or equivalent. Pass grade will be accepted if the candidate is having at least two years of experience in the field of specialisation.
- Applicants with the Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Electronic and communication, Computer, Petroleum and Environmental engineering and Geophysics etc.. are also considered case by case, if they have relevant work experience of not less than 3 years.
- Experienced students with diploma or advanced diploma will also be considered as per the MoHE regulations.
- Proficiency in English language equivalent to IELTS band 6 (with a minimum of no less than 5.5 in each element) OR a minimum TOEFL rating of 550 or equivalent.
