The MSc Construction Management program is designed to impart the knowledge and skills that modern construction professionals need in order to meet the growing challenges of the field by focusing on sustainable construction methods and innovative management practice. The program is useful for civil engineer, construction manager, architect and quantity surveyor as well as for engineers, wishing to advance and enhance their careers as modern construction professionals.
Career Opportunities
A broad range of career options in Oman and abroad exist in the public and private sectors with construction engineering contractors, project manager, company manager, contract manager, sustainability consultant, health, safety and environment consultants, project risk analysts and in national and local government agencies in areas including municipalities, building and infrastructure projects, maintenance, building regulations, compliance and assessment of building services etc.
Awards
- Students who successfully complete 120 credit hours will be awarded Postgraduate Diploma in Construction Management awarded by Glasgow Caledonian University, Scotland, UK.
- Students who successfully complete 180 credit hours will be awarded Master of Science in Construction Management awarded by Glasgow Caledonian University, Scotland, UK.
Entry requirements
In addition to the general master’s entry requirements, the specific program requirements are as follows:
- A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a relevant engineering including Quantity Surveying, Building Surveying, Construction Engineering, Civil Engineering, Measurement & Cost Engineering and Architecture or any equivalent program from an internationally recognized university with a minimum of a 2nd class honours or equivalent GPA.
- Applicants must have CGPA of not less than “GOOD” or equivalent. Pass grade will be accepted if the candidate is having at least two years of experience in the field of specialisation.
- Proficiency in English language equivalent to IELTS band 6 (with a minimum of no less than 5.5 in each element) OR a minimum TOEFL rating of 550 or equivalent.
- Experienced students with diploma or advanced diploma will also be considered as per the MoHE regulations.
