About College of Engineering

  • The College of Engineering, formerly known as Caledonian College of Engineering, was established in 1996.
  • The first private engineering college in the Sultanate of Oman.
  • It offers Undergraduate(UG)and Master degree programs in Engineering conforming to international standards and UG programs are accredited by the IET (UK) and CIOB (UK); the Institution is accredited by OAAA (Oman)
  • Academic collaborations with leading international universities including Glasgow Caledonian University (UK), and University of South Carolina (USA) and Vellore Institute of Technology(INDIA), as well as 22 other international collaborations for research and student exchange activities.
  • First engineering college to be fully accredited by OAAA in April 2018.
  • Located at Caledonian Campus, Al Hail, Muscat, this campus has teaching classrooms equipped with the latest teaching aids, advanced laboratories and workshops, computer laboratories, WiFi access, multi-purpose halls, a comprehensive central library with access to online libraries, restaurants and coffee shops, and sports as well as recreational areas.
  • A dedicated centre for research: Caledonian Centre for Research and Innovation (CRI) houses 17 specialized laboratories, 3 dedicated research centers and engineering workshop.
  • 3000+ students from 29 countries, 54% female and 46% male, with around 500+ staying in college accommodation.
  • More than 77.5% employability rate for graduates
  • Largest engineering faculty in Oman hailing from around 25 countries


College of Engineering is leading from the front in offering an innovative learning experience in HEI sector for the younger generation who will take part in the continuous process of building this beautiful nation. The College operates Undergraduate and masters degree programs in various disciplines of Engineering in collaboration with universities from USA, UK and India. The college has the necessary infrastructure and human resources for the successful operation of these programs. The laboratories, computing facilities and workshops are upgraded periodically to meet the varying requirements of the different programs. The College has a well equipped Central Library, Open Access Laboratory, 24 hour high speed Internet access, Student Support Services and Sports & Recreation facilities.

IT Facilities

The College IT Services is responsible for the maintenance of the network and a large number of computer facilities for general use by students and staff. It also maintains email servers, central file servers and intranet services to all staff and students; multimedia facilities, projection systems integrated with SmartBoards and Blackboard virtual learning system for making the teaching and learning process innovative. The College local area network connects computers and associated peripherals to a campus wide network allowing access to its resources and those which lie beyond on the Internet. Wireless LAN enables campus wide network access for students and staff.

We believe that engineers should be multi-skilled, and should be equipped with good communication skills to progress in their career. Our ABET-compliant engineering programs are designed to students with a deeper understanding of the fundamentals of engineering, a broader set of professional development opportunities and intensive exposure to industrial practices supported with adequate hands-on-experience. 3 modes of study options will suit to your personal commitments, work schedules and family needs. We will also help you decide which career you should follow - not simply the one you think you might be good at. We analyse your potential, broaden your horizons and establish clear goals for you to work towards.

Careers Fair & Placements

Our annual 'Careers Fair' event brings a number of employers to the College and allows the students to discuss with them on potential career opportunities in a wide variety of disciplines. It also lays a platform for students to explore job categories in the market and enables employers to arrange campus interviews to recruit qualified students from the College. The Careers Fair also opens up the possibility of summer placements in the industry for senior level students.

Pre-employment guidance will help you in the quest of finding the right kind of job and to sharpen your skills or strengthen your weak areas before taking up a job. Our career advisers will help you to arrive at the best possible career option available. Furthermore, we help the students to effectively use their summer holidays by attaching them with local companies to obtain hands-on experience and to understand real-life situations. This will also enable the students to apply the classroom knowledge to real life situations. The summer placements also help to provide practical and work based training projects in order to bridge the gap between theory and practice. All students who wish to be placed should apply to the Student Services department and depending upon the availability will be placed in the various organizations in Oman.
