The College of Engineering successfully hosted a two-day Workshop on “Roadmap for ABET accreditation at the College of Engineering”

The College of Engineering of the National University of Science and Technology successfully hosted a two-day Workshop on “Roadmap for ABET accreditation at the College of Engineering”   from  28th - 29th January 2020.   The College of Engineering under the National University, continuously strives to receive input from industry and its stakeholders in order to develop a new suite of programs to enhance Learning and Teaching strategies. In this regard,a new suite of BEng programs was designed to comply with the requirements of Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology, ABET and introduced from September 2019. Seeking an accreditation in engineering education such as (ABET) is a common practice among universities to improve their purpose as a focus for academic merit. The College of Engineering strongly believes that seeking and preparing for ABET accreditation will not only reaffirm the college’s reputation in the region as but will also aid in the continuous improvement of the academic qualities towards serving its program constituencies. Accreditation of education program is the recognition of an outside organization about the quality of a training program or a training organization. Accreditation is the recognition of an external organization about the education quality of a program or an educational organization ABET is an organization that accredits the quality of education programs in Engineering, Technology, Computing and Applied Science areas. ABET accreditation ensures that accredited educational programs satisfy the quality criteria defined by experts from professional associations. Enrolled in an ABET accredited program, students will have more opportunities to develop their personal careers after graduation as ABET is an internationally recognized organization, many companies have stated their priority to recruit graduates from ABET accredited programs. Further, ABET accredited programs ensure that the quality of the education program is globally recognized.

The College of Engineering at the National University of Science and Technology strongly believes that the success of engineering education in the region is attributed to a robust quality assurance and enhancement mechanism. To this effect, the university has developed its quality management system with the dedicated committee for Quality Assurance and Enhancement for the propose of strategic quality directives for the University.
