IEEE Student Chapter: This student chapter was formed in January 2004 at College of Engineering, Al Hail Campus with an aim to provide student members with the access to the activities, resources (both academic and social) and networking of IEEE. This will assist them in finding suitable placements and career opportunities in the dynamic job market. Through the use of workshops, conferences, journals and networking opportunities provided by IEEE, this chapter has quickly grown and now includes members from technical areas such as Computer, Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering. IEEE student branch is the second student branch in the Sultanate of Oman. Various activities are being organized from time to time under this banner.

ASME Student Chapter: College of Engineering, Al Hail Campus has launched ASME student chapter in the year 2005. Its primary aim is to get the students together for accessing the materials and resources in Engineering and Allied Sciences to promote the practice of multidisciplinary engineering around the globe. The Mechanical and Industrial Engineering (M&IE) Department of the College of Engineering operates the student chapter and the registered members of ASME chapter at NU enjoy the following benefits:

  • Each student gets a certificate and a badge.
  • Every month ASME magazine, which is issued to student members, focuses on the current developments in mechanical engineering.
  • The student members are allowed to access the website that is reserved for members and students can benefit either by joining short term courses or by purchasing technical books or CDs at concessional rates.
  • The student chapter is run by students themselves and hence they have the opportunity to learn, plan, arrange and organize meetings.
