MSc in Electrical Power Engineering is offered by National University in partnership with University of South Carolina, USA. This postgraduate degree program encourages independent thinking and creativity that prepares the graduates in research activities and to pursue a career in industries at higher management level or doctoral degrees in electrical power generation, transmission, distribution and utilization. Program educational objectives will enhance the graduates with the technological, and managerial skills with approaches that necessary for addressing the ever demanding challenges in the power & energy, oil & gas sectors towards sustainable economic and social development.

Degree Awards

  • Students who successfully complete minimum of 30 credit hours will be awarded Postgraduate Diploma in Electrical Engineering awarded by National University, Sultanate of Oman.
  • Students who successfully complete 45 credit hours will be awarded Master of Science in Electrical Engineering awarded by National University, Sultanate of Oman.

Career Opportunities

Electrical engineering graduates find employment in the government and private sectors in the areas of electrical installations, manufacturing electrical equipment for testing, and other electrical utilities development.

Entry requirements

In addition to the general master’s entry requirements, the specific program requirements are as follows:

  • Bachelor degree or equivalent in engineering including electrical, electrical & electronics, electrical and instrumentation, electrical & energy engineering program from an internationally recognized university.
  • Candidates from other disciplines may be considered case by case if they have relevant work experience not less than 3 years
  • Proficiency in English language of overall IELTS band 6.0 or with equivalent academic English language test of the university is required for the applicants with degree from non-English language speaking Universities.
  • Minimum of Three letters of references from referees, to show proficiency in the program of interest and research capabilities.

Mode of Study: Full Time/Part time ( Flexible Weekend Sessions)
Duration:4-5 Semesters (1.5 -2 years )
